0011. Inari

Inari is a popular Shinto deity, representing, among many things, rice and worldly success. More than one third of Japanese Shinto shrines are dedicated to Inari. Her (or his) messengers are foxes, and the Fushimi Inari shrine features a stunning display of hundreds of orange gates purchased in her honor.

My experiance at the Fushimi Inari shrine, as well as photos of it, are chronicled here: Kori Goes to Japan: Fushimi Inari Shrine
